someone told me there's a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.

It was the summer of 1980 when Nora Boyd met Christian James. It was a chance meeting, he was waiting for a friend to be discharged from the hospital she worked at when the two quite literally bumped into each other and scattered her stack of charts all over the floor, but it was quite easily the single most important meeting of their lives. Two years later they were married and while toasts were being given he said he had known she was someone special from the moment he first saw her. They were hardly six months into their first year of marriage when Nora announced that she was pregnant with their first child, the first of four children.
Once the initial shock of the pregnancy wore off, the newlyweds were overjoyed at the prospect of becoming parents. In the late spring of 1983, Christian and Nora welcomed a son, Robert, into their family. He was followed two years later by twins Grace and Garrett and then last, but not least, Katherine joined the family in 1988. Being neither extremely wealthy nor poor, but rather falling somewhere in between, Nora and Christian were able to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. Kate and her siblings had the happiest of childhoods, each of them thriving under the loving roof their parents provided them with.
For as long as anyone could remember Kate had always been in love with music. As a baby nothing soothed her tears and tantrums more than soft hum of her mother's voice or the gentle strum of her father's guitar. From the time she was old enough to hold her own guitar, her father began teaching her how to play and her passion for music only grew. A born performer, Kate would often put on concerts and shows for her parents and siblings in the family's living room. It was her primary school's choir teacher who discovered her voice and first encouraged her to develop her other natural talent. Music soon became everything to the young girl and in a matter of years she added playing the piano, bass, and ukulele to her list of talents. It was not unusual to find her playing any of them or sitting somewhere alone, quietly scribbling down thoughts or lyrics in one of her many journals.
Knowing that she wanted a career in music, Kate submerged herself in London's music scene after graduating secondary school at the age of eighteen. Soon after she met and began dating another young musician and joined his band that was of the indie-folk persuasion. She managed to record background vocals for their debut album before the two of them broke things off, causing her to leave the band. She continued working on her own solo career after that while floating around and appearing as a guest vocalist for other bands in the area as well as touring with various musicians including Jamie T and Adam Green. Eventually Kate was able to record and release her own debut EP London Town in 2007 which she will always count as the happiest day of her life. Within the next year came the release of her debut album Alas, I Cannot Swim which was later nominated for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize.
In 2009 Kate became associated with a musical duo by the name of Infinite Jest and invited them to join her on tour. Walliam Hunt was one half of the duo and over time the two of them fell head over heels in love. She released her second album I Speak Because I Can in the early spring of 2010 which entered into the UK Albums Charts at number four and was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Unfortunately due to their busy schedules and lack of communication, things began to deteriorate between her and Wally despite her best efforts to keep the relationship alive. Finally having enough of both the physical and emotional distance between the two of them, Kate ended things between them just before the debut of her third album. Once she was finished promoting A Creature I Don't Know, she returned home in order to take some time for herself and begin working on material for what would be her fourth album.
After a minor delay, Once I Was an Eagle was eventually released earlier this year and would turn out to be her third album nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Currently she's at work recording her fifth album which she hopes will be just as successful and fulfilling as the ones that came before it. Despite her various highs and lows, Kate is very happy with the course her life has taken and she is looking forward to whatever is in store for her next.

personality
Kate has always been a lively, energetic and daring woman. She is a fighter in every sense of the word. She is emotionally strong and able to carry a lot of emotional weight on her shoulders, though, it is often done in her lonesome. She rarely shares her worries or concerns with anyone else as she thinks that her issues are her own and she shouldn't (and wouldn't) put them on anyone else. She craves adventure and loves everything that is passionate and exciting -- she takes all her experiences as a challenge. She can be impulsive at times and her mother has always said it is what would get her into trouble one day. She isn't afraid to make mistakes and take chances, though. She is brave and determined, She rarely shrinks from responsibilities as she hates idleness and laziness. She is not a procrastinator and loves to get the job done rather than sitting around and waiting for things to happen on their own. She can be as fierce in her resolve as she is caring in her patience and she is confident and self-assured in just about everything she does.

facts
Aside from her singing and songwriting talents, she can also play the guitar, bass, piano, ukulele, and banjo, though the latter only seems to happen after a good night of drinking with Wally and the lads.
She had a huge obsession with Harry Potter, be it the books or movies, and has many collectibles from the franchise.
She wants the kind of love she witnessed everyday when growing up; the kind of love that her parents so clearly feel for each other. They set the bar for what a relationship should be in her eyes, and that is the reason why most of her past relationships have ultimately gone nowhere.
Though she doesn't always have much free time, what with working in the studio and maintaining her musical career, she does her best to make every single second of whatever free time she does has count when it comes to spending time with friends and family.
While she is not a "neat freak," she likes for things to be clean and organized in her apartment, at least when it comes to common areas like the living room, kitchen, and bathroom (especially the latter).
